Lima, Peru, December 2012:
PromPeru, the Government of Peru’s Tourism Promotion Body, invited ChinaContact’s Managing Director, Roy Graff, to provide comprehensive training on the topic of outbound Chinese tourists last December. Roy delivered a full day bespoke training program for Peruvian inbound tour operators, hoteliers and other service providers. The program was delivered on 5-6 December 2012 over two days in Lima to over 100 attendees, hosted by PromPeru.
The full day agenda addressed both the nature and behaviour of Chinese tourists and ways which Peru service providers can attract them and market to them. With a full day to communicate these topics, the discussion went quite deep and generated many questions from the audience. For many this was the first time to learn about this high growth market and the learning curve was very steep.
Feedback to the training event was very positive and enthusiastic. While Peru receives only a trickle of Chinese tourists currently, there is much in the country to attract and impress Chinese visitors. With adequate promotion and education, and improved knowledge of how to host Chinese visitors, Peru can dramatically increase visits from China in the coming years.
